Everything is Macross for me... In fact、 this game reminded me of Macross for the NES!
So、 I found this thanks to the reincarnation of Shoot the Core、 the cool PC STG database.
Anyway、 this little project by ZAC is freeware so it’s really worth a try、 especially because the entire graphical style and mechanics (the only mechanic here is how long can you keep blinking without dying、 just kill or be killed) are a tribute to the shooters of old、 gigantic hitbox、 obstacles and asteroids included. Controls are highly responsive though so forget of clunky、 inertia-filled ships.

The quirk of the game is that it loops up to 9 times、 getting harder and harder and HARDER. The first loop is the easiest and fastest 1LC ever、 trust me. But after that it becomes hell in space.
No need to add more、 just try it. It’s low-res shooting action with equally ’old’ and super-catchy music. By the way、 since the music was MIDI、 I rearranged it with my sound equipment to make it sound with more substance instead of torturing people with the generic Windows MIDI interface. Stage 1 is quite awesome、 2 is equally great and 3 makes me sad for some reason.
Even if you don’t want to delve deep into the brutal advanced loops、 the first loop will raise your morale like nothing else and it’s worth the 3 minutes of nice music and ’ancient’ style.
